Earlier this week, I wrote about Gordon Hayward’s tenure with the Boston Celtics, how his career arch was altered, and the knock-on effect his injury had on the team’s overall development.
In today’s podcast, myself and Tim Shiels take the conversation a couple of steps further. We look at how the Celtics’ future could have been different:
* Would Marcus Smart have developed the same?
* Would Jaylen Brown have been traded?
* Could Tatum and Brown ever emerge past being high-level role players?
* Would Kyrie Irving have stuck around?
* Would Kemba Walker have come to Boston? Or hurt his knee in the All-Star game?
Hayward’s injury created so many variables that it’s fair to put his injury in the top 5 of Boston’s biggest “What Ifs.”
With it being the offseason and Hayward having announced his retirement last week, now felt like the perfect time to take a bit of a deeper dive into his tenure and how differently things could have turned out.
