PODCAST: Burning Questions After Celtics' Busy Summer

The episode is now available on every major platform.

I've spent a lot of time this summer focusing on the Boston Celtics' talent drain and what that could mean for the product on the court next season. In recent newsletters, we've explored Neemias Queta and Luka Garza's potential impact, looked at trade ideas, and floated around concepts of how to move on from Anfernee Simons.

However, the truth is, there isn't an easy fix to the position the Celtics find themselves in. It's going to take a year or two to piece together another contending team...But that doesn't mean we're not going to have fun!

There will be new fan favorites who emerge – my money is on Josh Minott – some new star-level pursuits – and hopefully trades – and lots of "this feels important" type of moments.

With all that in mind, I was joined by Dr. Justin Quinn, who I work with at USA Today's Celtics Wire, and who hosts the "Havlicek Stole The Pod" Podcast. During this episode, we touched on:

  • Whether Joe Mazzulla is entering a "prove it season" and what that actually means for him over the next few years.
  • The big man rotation, and why Lauri Markkanen could be the ideal long-term replacement for Kristaps Porzingis.
  • The potential for Jaylen Brown to be traded in the next few years, and why it's a possibility, even if it would suck.
  • The different types of spacing and how the Celtics could adjust their style of play
  • And why Jayson Tatum's return isn't a magic "fix all" that will instantly return the Celtics to the world of being a contending roster.

The episode is now available on every major platform. If you want to watch it on YouTube, you can do so by clicking here:

With training camp around the corner and the new season on the horizion, I'm excited to start ramping my content production back up...This newsletter and the podcast/YouTube channel are both core aspects of that. I hope you enjoy what's being put out, and I'm excited for the season and year(s) to come!
