The fourth was weak with this one

Trying something new

Boston’s fourth-quarter collapse is the primary talking point today. Somehow, the Celtics let a 20-point lead slip away in the final quarter. Dean Wade went nuclear, shooting 100% from the floor, including from the perimeter.

Cleveland found success attacking the Celtics bigs in transition, and a flurry of single-screen high picks and rolls ensured Boston’s offense never found its rhythm.

After watching this game and then getting my re-watch in, I wanted to break down each play from those final 12 minutes. Rather than pulling the film, splicing it, turning it all into giphs, and writing 3000 words about why things did or didn’t happen, I thought it would be fun to try a video breakdown.

So, I went through the final 12 minutes of Boston’s game, sharing my thoughts — I missed a few things, such as a couple of “ice” coverages on side pick-and-rolls — and pointing out some of my bigger issues with the process coaching decisions, and shot selection.

Longer videos like this are a fun way to examine larger game segments where clips don’t provide the whole picture.
