We have a rim runner in neemi. Hes just not ready for playoff mins yet. With that said, we are win now, not win later. We could upgrade by sending springer + neemi + pick out then bring back some one like day'ron sharpe or mark williams (assuming charlotte can be convinced to keep nick richards instead).

I agree - with win now, you need someone who makes sense now and can eat legitimate playoff minutes. It's important to remember, though, that the Celtics are a 2nd apron team, so they can't aggregate salaries (unless they're trading out of the 1st and 2nd apron). Therefore, a player+player deal can't happen, unfortunately.

It can. As long as it can be treated like w separate deals. For example, assuming we go after day'ron sharpe.

the trade would be 1st round pick, springer and neemi for day'ron sharpe and jalen wilson.

springer (4M) covers day'ron sharpes (3.9M) salary.

neemi (2.1M) covers jalen wilson's (1.8M) salary.

non-aggregating doesnt mean they cant be put together in a trade. It just means their salaries cant be combined.

P.S. having a rim running big would be nice but would require less small ball and more double big lineups (which i prefer). We will eventually get to the point anyway of moving jrue to the bench as he ages.

That's moving the goalposts, lol. "We could upgrade by sending springer + neemi + pick out then bring back some one like day'ron sharpe or mark Williams" I read this as 2-for-1, which is aggregating haha.

I'm personally against double big lineups. I think it removes an additional ball-handler & shot creator from the floor, and hurts the overall fluidity. A rim-runner could help ease that, but I would prefer them as the future backup big.

Apologies then if it wasnt clear. Springer is enough to cover any big i'd target (including walker kessler). I'm just packaging neemi as theres no point in us having 5 bigs.

packaging neemi allows us to pick up a cheap wing or guard in the same trade like a jalen wilson or patty mills.

I value rebounding alot. Small ball works when your perimeter players can handle gobbling up the boards. Jrue was big at this last season but his rebounding had dipped. Basically, we've used jrue holiday like a stretch big. He's just not as good at it this season.

I wouldnt mind going back to small ball if either the 4 perimeter players improve rheir board work (tatum has been great) or we get another wing/guard whos an excellent rebounder (a josh hart type, not necessarily him).

I’m just busting chops. No biggie :)

I also think single big with Tatum at the 4 and Brown at the 3 isn’t majorly small. I get the point, and I value the knock-on effect of rebounding too.

I just think having the 4 and 5 occupied by bigs removes an additional ball-handler, shot creator, scorer - etc. furthermore Tatum is at his best when gobbling the boards. Playing double big removes some of his impact there, which hurts his ability to control tempo and pace

I find that tatum has a bigger advantage when he plays the 3 where he can overpower mismatches.

I dont think if you go double big you have to lose all the things you mentioned. 1-2 maybe but look at the evan mobley + jarrett allen tandem. This is why luke works well wih Kp. hes a lob threat, can playmake off the short roll and gives us a rim protector/rebounder even if Kp Gets pulled out to guard the perimeter.

Now am i happy if its luke? Serviceable but again an upgrade would be nice as eventually jrue will slow down more. Replacing him with PP doesnt help our size deficiencies.

I'd like for this starting lineup to get more athletic and lengthier. Ideally, that secondary big is someone who can score and pass well.

I do think adding a true rim roller would be a nice extra element to have. Queta could eventually be that, but right now he's still too raw on defense for his good offensive nights to be worth(I'll give him credit though that I think he's playing with more force on offense).

You do have to be able to still bring it on defense though, and I'm not really sure who is available that I think can bring that element.

day'ron sharpe is the 1st that comes to mind that fits springer's salary.
