Good analysis. I think the problem is that we don't know what direction Boston is leaning, much less which trade partners might make sense. Feels like everyone looking to dump salary will be circling the Nets. Though Porzingis' expiring contract makes a lot more sense than multiple years owed to someone like Wiggins or Beal. If Porzingis bounces back, the Nets could flip him to a contender at the trade deadline for additional assets. A lot may depend on what his medical records show. I mean, of all the things we thought could happen to limit KP during the post season, "viral infection" wasn’t on anyone's bingo card.
This is all fair. And I think the Nets are big players in any potential salary dump or trade talk. They're still in "asset acquiring mode" which makes them a viable threat to steal someone out of free agnecy or operate as a dumping ground for short-term high value contracts. I think KP could do well there. But, I'm just not sure how big his market will be outside of BKN, which makes it really tough to predict
Why not Houston? Adams isn't a scorer. Porzingis and Sengun do some of the same things, but not quite, and double scoring bigs with KP's rim protection could be great. Also they can flip a pick and it will feel like they added him for free.
Houston is a solid one! Defo slipped my mind. I think you've hit all the pros of sending him there on the head. Whether Udoa would be down with someone like KP is a different story - he does prefer the bruiser-style bigs, but the floor spacing KP would bring could elevate the team significantly.
Agree Holiday and KP, Hauser, then Brown. Not a lot of options and possible takers. Utah for Collins works for both KP & Holiday. Jeremy Grant Anfernee Simons, Herro, work for Holiday but not sure a salary swap or close help much with the cap. KP is Brogdon revisited, couldn't stay healthy to stay on the team. Holiday wasn't reliable half the season nor in playoffs. We lost to a team that plays like 7 players. Trade deadline may make sense but a big contract. Brown for Jalen Green, Jabari Smith, Cam Whitmore and swap of 10 & 28 but likely would need to move KP or Holiday and Hauser to make room for the #10 pick salary? Meniscus not a major injury. No Van Vleet . Don't need Hauser need an athletic 3&D. Could Brad have to trade out of 28 for a second or 2 Charlote 33 & 34? Only time will tell
John, me and you are on the same page in regards to Cam Whitmore! I'm super interested in a potential Simons deal, too. I like the idea of getting younger and more sustainable. But like you say, could mean multiple moves and right now, the path looks far from clear
Saw a crazy one this AM that actually works in Fanspo mock. JB to spurs with 28 pick for Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Sochran and 2 & 14 picks. Ace Bailey (JT 2.0) or Harper (Bigger quicker Brunson) and Demin, Traore, Fleming, or Cedric Coward? Coward's jumping up possibly in the lottery Would somehow have to include a body or two going out, Drake Powell Dink Pate , Lendenborg or Reynaud at 32? have to match up with OKC, could be there for a while still have like 8 firsts. Coward & Pate could be 2 of the draft's sleepers in a few years. Could they get 2nd pick and Dallas takes Bailey or trades out? If not Harper and Fleming plus Keldon, Sochran & Vassell and Reynaud Powell or Pate and 32?
