Yeah, the defense is ROUGH. But I do think he balances out a lot of it with his offense. And I really hope Mazzulla can find ways to hide him...And who knows, maybe being on the Celtics forces him to develop that side of his game. High-level effort goes a long way
I like the trade for the reasons you noted, including that his contract will be much more tradeable at the trade deadline and that the team didn’t need to include and draft assets to move Holiday’s contract. If Simons stays, it will be interesting to see whether Mazulla can coach him up to be an average defender, although his height is a drawback. He can score, and do so reasonably efficiently.
Great point about not giving up any draft capital, that's something I keep overlooking. Personally, I feel like you're on the money, and that if Simons is going to get flipped, it will come at the trade deadline. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him around, though, assuming he does well, of course
Simons is such a sieve. I’m looking forward to seeing if Joe and the staff can get him up to a not embarrassing level.
Also, Ben wasn’t that bad (ducks)

And lol - I don't think Ben was *that bad*
